‘Eureka!’ heralds a brilliant idea, and among European inventions, the orchestra and its music are a magnificent example. Eureka Europa! is a highly participatory show that traces a musical route through the Old Continent, presenting the European anthem by the German Beethoven; the classicism of the Austrian Mozart (with a brief but intense course in orchestral conducting!); it travels north to the land of the Vikings with Peer Gynt by the Norwegian Grieg, and to the ‘pomp and circumstance’ of Great Britain, to finally return south with the apples and arrows of William Tell by the Italian composer, Gioachino Rossini, and home with a brilliant example of Spanish music, La Boda de Luís Alonso.
